Saturday 5th March marked the 2011 Drum & Bass Awards at The Custard Factory, Birmingham. Whilst the rest of the Hospital contingent were recovering from Hospitality Sheffield and Hospitality Southampton, at opposite ends of the country, from the night before, Hospital head honcho Chris Goss headed down to the Custard Factory with High Contrast on one arm, Netsky on the other arm and Danny Byrd joining the party too.
The annual National Drum & Bass Awards are always a timely reminder of the scene’s successes, rounding up the best promoters, record labels, producers, DJs, MCs, events, festivals and press outlets from across the UK. Hosted by veteran tripartite Skibadee, MC Biggie, and Grooverider, the awards were, much like they always are, a good excuse for a party! The 4000 capacity venue, spread across three rooms, was sold out and jammed full of lively revellers, hardcore fans and committed trainspotters alike, all eagerly anticipating the results of the 2011 awards and excited to see Hospital homeboy High Contrast as the special guest with MC Dynamite on the mic.
It turned out that this year was our lucky year…. Hospital walked away with no less than eight awards in total, with Netsky scooping four for himself, voted by the people as best breakthrough DJ, producer, best international artist and best liquid DJ; Hospitality getting three for best promoter, club night and event (for the legendary Brixton Academy last September….. there’s another coming on 22nd April, remember!) and Hospital winning ‘best record label’. Chris Goss commented afterwards: “Running out of things to say, on the 3rd award I simply thanked “everyone in Forest Hill and everyone at Upton Park”…. which seeing as we moved above Birmingham in the relegation zone yesterday went down as well as pork scratchings at a barmitzvah…” Overall, a phenomenal result for us down at Hospital HQ and a nice affirmation for us to gloat over over a glass of bubbly (or cup of tea) as we celebrate 15 years in the ride this year!
On a serious note, the message from The Goose is: “A massive thank you to everyone that voted for us at the Awards. All of you that come out to the parties in London and all over the UK, support our DJs, buy our music, wear our t-shirts, and drink tea in our mugs… BIG UP!”

I love this site on cars. I will send it to my friends!
Hospital Miami was a great event!!! I met Netsky and his performance was well received and brilliant . Hoaspital records have been a staple in my musical diet. Also the buzz is all over town about London electricitys “YIKES” release. All my friends are blown away with Electricity will keep us warm. I was captured and engaged by the single. I had to stop what I was doing and let the track take all my attention. I will be writing a review of the album and posting it on my web site. No surprise it will be all positive and glowing. Hospital records and its group of artists is one of thee most progressive , forward thinking and cutting edge companies out there. My hope is that they will continue to grow and prosper for years to come. J-RoQ
Best record label by far!!!
