Last night the Hospital Records crew headed down to the Electric in Brixton for the annual Drum & Bass Arena Awards. It was a cold night but the atmosphere inside the venue was warm as everyone from throughout the industry congregated together to celebrate 2012’s achievements and reflect on just what a year it’s been for D&B. This year the awards were hosted by D&BTV front woman Charlie and BBC Radio One’s Mistajam.
The first award was for “Best Newcomer DJ” which we’re very pleased to say went to everyone’s favourite Devon duo Fred V & Grafix. Unfortunately Fred couldn’t be there but Josh was there representing and did a great speech in his wingman’s absence. Big up Fred + Josh!
The next award to come our way was for Hospitality which won “Best Event” for another year in a row. After all our hard work over the past year with a record number of shows across the UK, Europe, a USA tour and numerous festivals, we are all really chuffed that it’s been recognised. Thanks to everyone who comes to our parties and makes the events such a success – we literally couldn’t do it without you!
And our third and final award of 2012, went to S.P.Y for “Best Album” for his immense debut “What The Future Holds” which dropped in October this year and has captured the imagination of fans and DJs from across the scene. Hugely deserved, we are all very proud of Carlos for getting this one as he was up against some tough competition!
All in all, it was another fantastic D&B Arena Awards and we all had a wicked night. Big thanks to D&B Arena for organising as usual, everyone who voted for us and our artists, and a massive congratulations to all the winners.
