Hospitality Hot Spots: Manchester

Manchester, the home of the legend that was Marcus Intalex, and a city that plays host to one of the world’s most distinctive and famous music scenes. After a two year absence, we’re back.

We’re mega excited to bring Fred V Grafix’s new live show to the stage for its first appearance at our Hospitality Autumn series. S.P.Y brings the belters following the huge success of his Alone in the Dark EPs, with fellow Bristolian Hugh Hardie jumping on the decks to put the final jigsaw in the drum and bass puzzle for a cracking Room One line-up. We’re also bringing Manchesters most infamous gruesome twosome: Dub Phizix and Strategy. These fine fellas will also be joined by D+B’s hottest current export: Dimension. The man whose been setting speakers on fire up and down the country for some time now will be coming to Manchester all for you lovely people.

No Hospitality night is truly complete without Med School repping Room Two. Whiney & Keeno will be reliving some Manchester memories having both perfected their sound in the northern bass capital. There’s no better representative to the Med School sound than Etherwood, and let’s just say he might have a few surprises up his sleeve! One of the most musically talented Aussies around Royalston, along with Med School O.G Anile complete the Room Two bill. The line-up is insane, the vibes are better and there will be a lot of new, banging tunes on display but don’t just venture to the club, here’s why Manny is one of our favourite places to come.

O2 Ritz:

It’s not often you can dance your tits off to drum and bass in a Grade 2 listed building, so why not jump at the opportunity whilst you’ve got it. A short walk from the city’s Northern Quarter, there’s no better place to have a few before you heading down to what will be one of our biggest parties to date. Manchester’s music scene has always been top notch, from the days of the Hacienda nightclub up until now with the boys at Soul:r dictating the D+B in the city. That said, it’s a privilege for us to come and play for you after our mini hiatus, in a venue that hosts some of the best bands and DJs in the city.

Things to do:

A trip to Manchester without going to The Northern Quarter is in my eyes blasphemous. A real mecca for DJs, ‘N4’ is a hive of creativity, the best street-food and trendy shops to suit many a taste. Be sure to get yourself crate digging in one of the many record shops, with such an iconic influence on the British music scene there are bound to be some absolute gems kicking about. If you need a change of atmosphere and your head is really pounding from the hangover, then maybe some feline interaction will help your recovery. The Cat Café on the Northern Quarter High Street will welcome you with open
paws to soothe your noggin.

Places to stay:

There’s a lot to live up to when you’re touted as the most popular hostel in Manchester. Banged right on the edge of the happening North Quarter and just a 15 min from O2 Ritz, you’re in a pretty sweet location at Hatters on Newton Street. Complete with its own bar you can have a little tipple before you head down to the Ritz and probably meet some likeminded D+B enthusiasts. It’s also a 6-minute walk from my most recommended place to eat which you can check out below!

What to eat:

Like me, I’m sure you have made countless amounts of basic grilled cheese sandwiches as a hangover cure after a solid night of grooving. Now imagine your pathetic attempt compared to Grilled Cheese perfection at the delicate hands of gourmet cheese buffs Northern Soul in the Northern Quarter. If you don’t fancy a sandwich, their Mac & Cheese is probably better than your mums and their nachos are perfecto. The ‘number one grilled cheese restaurant’ in the UK don’t stop at the food. They pride themselves on playing killer grooves to keep your jaw munching and your feet tapping. You’d be a fool not to check them out.

All in all, a journey to Manchester will leave no party unsatisfied. A melting pot of art and culture, cheaper than the UK’s southern counterparts and Hospitality is making it’s long awaited return. It’s the perfect combination. Tickets are on sale now so act fast and book your slot today.
