Hi Matt, thanks for taking the time to chat with us. We can’t wait to to hit Norwich on 10th October. Can you give us a little introduction about yourself…
I’ve been Djing in the area for nearly 18 years and promoting around East anglia for around 10 now, either in the background or the four front of an event. Mainly promoting Rumble & Color with my co-partners Jacob, Andrew & Adam, where back in 2010 we started the night Color at the Waterfront.
We’ve brought Hospital twice, Ram, Shogun & Metalheadz to name but a few to Norwich over the time.
What’s the DNB scene like in Norwich?
One word really and that’s “Healthy”. Norwich loves a good bass heavy party and the Ravers are very educated in the ways of Dance Music.
What other headliners brands have made a visit to the city in the past?
Where do i start, Chase & Status, Andy C and the full Ram gang, High contrast, Netsky, The Upbeats, Goldie, Jubei, Lenzman etc so pretty much everyone in the D&B scene over the time.
Is everyone geared up for the Hospitality show?
Yes very, tickets are moving nicely which is a great sign, so the Hypes building. This is a special event in the fact that its the first full d&b event to be held at the UEA in over 6/7 years
Can you talk us through the venue and the sound system?
The venue is a purpose built music arena in the heart of the UEA campus, the only way to describe it, is a mini version of Brixton Academy, the sound system they have in there is amazingly clean sounding im unsure of the name but the sister venue Waterfront has a digital Tannoy rig so its on the same lines as that but much bigger along with a much bigger stage to perform on.
As you mentioned you are a DJ and we can catch you warming up room1 for the Hospital artists on the night. What can we expect from your set?
Well im signed to Markys imprint Innerground under my guise T>I and my sound is Minimal dancefloor rollers so a nice blend of dancefloor bubblers as i like to call them with a touch of calibre, Lynx, Skore & Saxxon chucked in for good measure.
Highlight from your DJ or Promoter (or both) career so far and why?
As a DJ being signed to innerground and them giving me the chance to play in fabric a few times last and this year. Also another highlight was Hype signing one of my biggest tunes to date on Playaz entitled “Deepwithin”. As a promoter highlights have been the last 3 events we did with Warning from Cambridge at a club called Wonderland in Norwich where we smashed 1600 people through the doors so seeing that many people in your dance is a great feeling.
Please name your top 5 tracks of the moment.
May be not all the freshest nominations but tracks that I still love.
Logistics ‘I got love’ remix. – Golden oldey
Noisia ‘Shaking Hands’
Die ‘Watching windows’
Who’s set are you looking forward to catching at the show and why?
Nu:tone & Logistics is my obvious choice as they play the rolling side of Hospital sound but also Metrik & Lynx as ive purchased their tracks over the years but never booked them for a party so they will be playing to fresh ears.
